Why is static building up in my vinyl rolls?Static occurs naturally in any plastic product and is built up over time by the friction of the material rubbing against itself. It is true that some liners — especially clear polyester liners — hold static better than others. However, FDC and our suppliers take special steps by using anti-static tinsel to protect rolls from building up undue static. While we take every care possible to reduce its build up, static can occur during storage and transportation especially in drier climates where vinyl may not be stored at the recommended humidity. Most users are aware that static occurs from time to time with any product, and they use anti-static measures like using a humidifier to raise the room's humidity levels or running the material under tinsel to dissipate the film's charge.
